When the iPhone X was released in 2017, the world was amazed by the steps Apple had taken to progress smartphone technology. Apple CEO, Tim Cook, described the iPhone X as "the biggest leap forward since the original iPhone," outlining the massive changes that were being introduced.

Since its release almost 4 years ago, the iPhone X has only become better as iOS software has developed and introduced new features. If you are in the market for a new phone in 2021, the iPhone X is still one to consider! In this article we outline some of the best features and key things that set this phone apart from others of its generation and compare them to later models.

iPhone X

Design:

Apple complete rejigged their design with the iPhone X, giving the a much needed new look and introducing some of the latest technology. Boasting the first full-screen display in the iPhone range, it was simply talked about as the most bold, yet best move Apple had made since designing the first iPhone.

The iPhone X comes in two colours - silver or space grey - and features both a glass front and back. These two sides are wrapped with a silver stainless steel frame giving it a modern, sleek look.

With the full-screen display, Apple also eliminated the large bezels that had previously dominated the top and bottom of the front of iPhone designs. This in turn made the iPhone X appear more compact and proportionate than its predecessors.

The 5.8inch display is taller than the iPhone 6, 6S, 7 & 8 models but is smaller than the iPhone 7 Plus & 8 Plus models, making it a great balance for those looking for a little more display, yet not so big that it does not fit in your hand.

Since the iPhone X was released, this design has only changed slightly proving that it turned out to be a winning formula for Apple users. Only the latest iPhone 12 has had a slight change from rounded edges to more square edges, but overall the design is largely similar.

Display:

The iPhone X has a 5.8 inch OLED display - the first OLED display used in the iPhone range. The screen guarantees you outstanding crystal clear display and excellent viewing for photos, videos and any other graphics.

Although many people are quick to point out that the OLED technology has been around since competitions, such as Samsung, first started developing phones, Apple have a fair argument. Up until the iPhone X, Apple says that OLED technology has not been good enough to incorporate into their models. However, with this step into high quality OLED displays, Apple paved a way for more recent models such as the iPhone 11 to also include the latest and most technologically advanced OLED displays.

The iPhone X screen also includes True Tone technology, which automatically adjusts the display to correct white point and illumination depending on your environmental lighting. This feature is highly beneficial when using your phone under direct sunlight or in low light situations.

Face ID:

The iPhone X is Apple's first device to include Face ID, allowing you to unlock, authorise and sign into different parts of your phone using face recognition technology. This, in a way, replaces some of the functionality of the home button that was eliminated in the iPhone X model.

Powered by Apple’s state-of-the-art TrueDepth camera system with advanced technologies, Face ID offers an intuitive and secure way of protecting the information in your device. With it only taking minutes to set up, it is a smooth and easy-to-use method of achieving phone security.

Camera:

The iPhone X also features the redesigned dual 12 megapixel rear camera, incorporating both a standard and telephoto lens. This configuration of cameras actually gives you better performance than an iPhone 11 when it comes to zooming into photos as it is clearer and image quality is not compromised.

The front-facing camera is one of the best in the market featuring TrueDepth technology, 7 megapixel quality and also smart capabilities to make the iPhone one of the best selfie-taking cameras. You can even take photos in portrait mode using the front facing camera!

Performance:

The iPhone X features Apple's A11 Bionic processor, making it an extremely powerful smartphone with the ability to process over 600 billion operations per second. This gives the iPhone X outstanding graphics, the ability to be more than just a day-to-day phone and all with improved efficiency.

You can easily undertake any task you wish on your iPhone X with no issues at all!
